Isn't it incredible how much of this news group is dedicated to arguing
about Zetatalk.

I wonder which is more unusual, Nancy's outlandish claims or the thousands
of scientists shouting her down. She has done an incredible job as a little
old lady to create such a stir in the field of astronomy. Of course her
claims are hogwash, but what is even funnier is the amount of websites
created by scientists to prove her wrong!

Why do so many of our greatist astronomers waste so much of their time
attacking Nancy's cult? Is that what the taxpayer wants you to spend your
time doing - arguing with every daft cult that rears its head? It makes the
scientists look as silly as Nancy to the average man in the street - people
like me.

Of course, we live in a free world - differing opinions on science,
religion, spirituality, politics etc is healty isn't it? Does it really
matter if Nancy makes these ridiculous claims, after all only a 100 or so
people worldwide believe her, compared to the millions of people that follow
mainstream science - why then is she perceived as such a threat? Why not
just ignore her, and she'll disappear in 12 months time.

Isn't it time some of our most intellectual brains also became some of our
wisest brains too?

Ahh, yet another cult appologist makes their way to sci.astro.

It's incredible only because the High Priestess and her drones can't
seem to understand that no one here is going to be converted to her
new-age doomsday cult, and they can't seem to keep their mouths shut -
just like Nancy.

Thousands?

The "field of astronomy" doesn't even know she exists, except for a
small majority of people that read this newsgroup - most of which just
ignore the ranting anyhow. Sci.astro isn't a scientific journal,
contrary to what Nancy thinks.

The only place Nancy has made a stir is where she isn't welcome. All
you need to do is go and look at the boring messages posted to the
TT-groups, where all the content is stiffled by the moderators. At
least here, there's rebuttal to her poor lack of physics and
astronomy. There's discussion here because it's allowed - not like
Nancy's own groups or IRC chats where no one is free to speak their
mind.

You're supposing that everyone here is being paid by the government.
Secondly, what makes you think "they're" doing it on "company" time?
Thirdly, the fact that you think it's "silly" to try and keep people
from getting scammed or manipulated, just shows your lack of caring
for others vulnerable to the likes of Nancy, JIm Jones, David Koresch,
Marshall Applewhite, L. Ron Hubbard or the thousands of others before
them.

Why the opposition? Because she comes here (and lately, all of her
cult followers looking for answers as to why "It's" no where to be
seen) and tries to push her agenda on people. She has a TT group where
she can speak her mind and no one will bother her - but instead she
comes here. In fact, she unsubscribed form her own TT-watch group
because she couldn't stand the heat from her own members. She posts
here because she doesn't have to answer her cult's questions or reply
to the statements of fact that show her to be fake and a con artist.

One dead cult member is one too many.

It matters when she's telling people that their hard earned savings
will be worthless in a matter of months, and that they should up and
move their families to other areas of the world. Those that can't
afford to do so are scared stiff that they'll die. People have
withdrawn their children's education savings to finance moves and pay
for land. She's claimed that people could be "lifted" prior to the
"poleshift" to be saved, if they follow Nancy's lead as an "STO". It
"matters" when the person making the claims has a Messiah syndrome and
a unending *need* for followers. She's destroyed families and
estranged children from their parents. Followers are planning to go
into the wilderness with basically nothing but Nancy's "survival
guide" to lead them.

Sure, we could let people continue to be taken in by Nancy's trash
when they come here asking for the truth. I guess that's what being
"STS" is all about - telling the truth.

So your "STO" opinion is that those who know better should be quiet,
and let the High Priestess continue to ply her psudeo-science, new age
religion and doomsday scenario to those people who could fall prey to
her cult tactics and coercive persuasions becuase of their
vulnerability?

Maybe we should do the same thing with the Catholic church and the
Priests that prey on children? Ignore them? Is that what you're asking
us to do? How about the scam artists that come in after a natural
disaster? Ignore them too?

Nancy preys on those who would be defenseless against manipulation,
suggestion, and control. Ignoring her would be inexcusable for those
who know better, and have the ability and chance to speak contrary to
her coercive tactics.

Feel free to look the other way while people lose everything they own,
if that's your choice. Some of us will continue to try and prevent it
from happening. That's our choice.
