Below is food for thought, not to mention downright scary for Nancy's
followers.

You know, the more I see it, the more ZetaTalk and Nancy Lieder reminisce me
of Heaven's Gate.

Same UFO cult, Same illusions about the SAME supposed celestial body. (The
12th Planet, 10th Planet)

Both middle-aged, socially and physically challenged leaders. (I'm not
telling you anything you don't already know)

Heaven's Gate used a "different" science to explain their stuff, ZetaTalk
uses that too. (Read their theory on evolution)

Heaven's Gate would heavilly control the information surrounding their cult,
ZetaTalk does too. (Read the various reports on ZetaTalk content changing to
fit new "truths". Also, see how the source of information of ZetaTalk is
unique and unwavering, as the rest of information is seen as "cover-up" and
"wrong" unless they can use it to make their claims sound better.

Heaven's Gate would use self-esteem crushing to make sure everybody in the
gang followed the exact same line, ZetaTalk does too. (See the exagerated
moderating in various ZetaTalk chats and/or Planet X boards. Also, I've got
a report from people mailing ZetaTalk to offer theories and them being
answered, belittled and ridiculed, and then offered the ZetaTalk dogmas, as
if to say "You're an idiot! Here's the truth:...")

Heaven's Gate called for the end of the world via pole shifting 10 years
ago, The ZetaTalk does so today.

The scariest of them all....

The Heaven's Gate guru killed all his followers by serving them poisoned
pudding. The guru himself ended up becoming worm food.

ZetaTalk recently mentionned getting rid of bothersome pets before PX Day.
They will just consume ressources needed for humanity or end up being
barbecues, they say. This may be the first step toward the order of getting
rid of bothersome uninformed non-believers before PX Day. I believe that
this is more possible than the Planet X passage. I believe that Nancy Lieder
and mostly, her firmest believers, are a threat to themselves and to their
closest environment.

Now, I don't think there's a ZetaTalk mansion anywhere where they are all
getting together waiting for the poles to shift. But Nancy Lieder has a
family, most of which rightfully does not agree with her beliefs. She also
works surrounded by people that either ignores everything on this or doesn't
believe. These people are threatened by the schizo-paranoid women that hears
voices. And her distorted message is believed by weak or sick people who
themselves are threatening others.

I believe that authorities should be informed of the activities of this cult
so that it can be dismantled before anything tragic occurs.

Seeing as how there have been a couple of post comparing ZetaTalk and
Heaven's Gate, I was just thinking that a more useful comparison, and
IMHO, a more likely idea of the outcome, would be to compare it to the
various millenial movements of the 19th Century, and the one that led
to the creation of the Seventh Day Adventists springs to mind.

Someone predicts the end of the world . When the predicted day comes
and nothing shows, most of those involved leave in disappointment and
get on with their lives. A few decide that they just misinterpreted
the signs and start off something new that moves the predicted events
off into the future to a helpfully unspecified, or at least not
immediate date.

My own bet is that some of the ZetaDevotees will move off into other
groups of a similar nature, and there will probably be some sort of
rump ZetaTalk movement left. With any luck, many of the others will
just get on with their lives.

So all the Kool-Aid references are probably unnecessary, although it's
not inconceivable that some of them are going to take it hard. (and to
be serious, while I don't see some sort of Heaven's Gate scenario
being a serious contender, I would feel that concern for some of the
individuals involved would not be out of place)

As for sci.astro, I am willing to take a bet, although not a big one
;O) that after a lull in the next few weeks, and maybe for a while
afterwards, there will be a new group to do it again, with a new date
and a new slant on it , although possibly featuring some of wacky
characters we have come to know.....

Sigh
